The starting of the motorcycle is mainly based on the pedal starting method. The starting mechanism has a sector gear starting mechanism represented by the Xingfu XF250 motorcycle. The pedal start gear lever drives the sector gear, the starting ratchet, the clutch assembly sprocket, the front chain, and the crankshaft sprocket to drive the crankshaft to rotate and start the engine. When the engine is started, the starting mechanism is restored to its original position by the one-way action of the starting ratchet and the action of the return spring. This kind of starting mechanism, when starting, the starting gear lever is turned to the neutral position, and the pedal can be started.

The other is a starter lever type starting mechanism adopted by some imported models. Different from the former, when starting, you must first pinch the clutch handle to disengage the clutch. The gear lever can be placed in any gear position. It does not have to be in neutral. After starting, loosen the clutch and increase the throttle to start. When the starter lever is stepped on, the pawl on the starter lever shaft meshes with the internal ratchet teeth of the starter lever transmission gear to rotate the transmission gear, and the crankshaft is driven to rotate via the idle gear, driven gear, clutch gear, and starter pinion. Start the engine. After starting, the foot leaves the starting pedal, the return spring causes the pedal to rotate in the opposite direction, the pawl is out of engagement with the inner ratchet, and the original position is restored.

Large displacement motorcycles such as Changjiang brand 750D motorcycle, Yamaha two-cylinder motorcycle, Suzuki (SUZUKI) GT750 three-cylinder motorcycle, Honda (HON-DA) CL1000 four-cylinder motorcycle, etc. are all started The motor starts.
